DIY : Recycled Vase + Floral Arrangement

For today's DIY, we'll be making something that involves minimal spending (especially if you're a regular DIY-er like me and have this extra stuff laying around the house), and an old method© soap bottle (you know, the kind that foams when you pump it out). Let's get started! Go rummage around and find your bottle of choice.

(I just utilized the above shot for reference purposes only--I suggest using a bottle that is already loved and that you have gotten as much use out of as possible).

What You'll Need:

  • White (or color of your choice) acrylic paint
  • Paint brush
  • A finished method© soap bottle
  • Leftover fabric flowers (it's great to use up stuff from past DIYs)
  • A safe, paint-proof space.
Start by laying out newspaper or whichever table cover you wish to utilize while painting. Wash out your previously used method© soap bottle, and make sure it is dry all over (it won't hurt if there's a little water on the inside). Take your paint of choice and begin covering your first coat onto the outside of the bottle.

Depending on the quality of your paint, you may need two coats. Just make sure your brush strokes are all going in the same direction to avoid unnecessary, junky lines. Let the paint dry for a few hours, then begin to gather your floral arrangement and place the pieces into your vase.

And DONE! You are ready to place your beautiful flowers in your location of choice.
