When a girlfriend of mine suggested grabbing lunch at The Nom Nom Deli in downtown Olympia, Washington, I was a bit weary. Initially I was worried that there wouldn't be a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options, but my friend proved me wrong and I found my new favorite lunch spot! Pictured above is their delicious veggie noodles (gluten-free rice noodles with lettuce, pickled veggies, fresh tofu, peanuts and a light sauce)! This dish is only $5.50. No joke, $5.50. I also had their vegetarian spring rolls with peanut sauce, not pictured. These rolls were bigger than any spring rolls I've had at other local Olympia Asian cuisine! Two huge rolls are only $3.
To top off the meal, I ordered a coconut pandan sticky rice. The rice becomes green from pandan leaves. These tropical leaves grow throughout Southeast Asia and are ground up, along with coconut cream and sugar to create this yummy dessert (also gluten-free). It is topped with sesame seeds for extra flavor. Sticky rice comes to $3.25.
For just around $15, you receive an appetizer, entree and dessert. It's a college kid's dream!
