7 Best Acai Bowl Recipes You Can Make at Home (+ Don't Cost a Fortune)!

Acai bowls are ALL. THE. RAGE. these days! It’s not often that you can visit someone’s Instagram, Tumblr or Pinterest page without crossing over one of these bad boys. I decided I’d beat the juice bar price and compile a list of the best acai bowl recipes that you can make from home without the crazy cost.

Loaded with acai, a Brazilian magical berry with a long list of health benefit, these bowls are a superfood! Because they’re so popular (and due to the ingredients often used), many people find themselves spending a fortune on these bowls (at least $5-10 per small bowl) at their local juice bar or coffee shop.

In my research, I found a bunch of delicious and unique acai bowls you can make at home! Some are variations of acai, but still hold wonderful healing properties.

  • 2 frozen acai smoothie packs
  • 1/3 cup non-dairy milk, used: almond milk (more as needed to blend)
  • ¼ cup coconut milk (or substitute with more almond milk)
  • 1 large frozen banana
  • ¼ cup frozen or fresh blueberries
  • toppings: 1 tsp goji berries, 1 tsp cacao nibs, 1 tsp shredded coconut, splash of coconut milk, fresh blueberries, chopped nuts or raw jungle peanuts

Creamy Cherry Bowl

  • base: frozen bananas and frozen pitted cherries
  • served with: homemade cherry sorbetto
  • toppings: coconut shreds, fresh cherries, dried cherries, raw-nola, dragon fruit balls and vegan white chocolate chips

Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of goji berries. I find them to be too tart and savory for such a sweet dish—similar to raisins or cranberries. I would opt out of gojis in all of these recipes and focus more on adding some flax seed or another super ingredient!

The main take-away I got from this research is: no matter how you alter the generic acai bowl concept, you're sure to make something fabulous that will please your palate!
