A City On A Dime: Portland, Oregon

I've been a flight attendant for about a month now and I have been enjoying every adventure and mishap along the way! Through all of my adventures, it makes me value my home city even more.  A City on a Dime is my series to encourage you to think outside the box and travel on just a dime.

I moved to Vancouver, Washington when I was around 7 years old. I grew up going to Portland, Oregon most weekends, and as an adult I go all the time, whether it be for shopping or business. I love the atmosphere of Portland and how many interesting things it has to offer!

I love how Portland is a great combination of cultures, people and activities that always keep people coming back for more. Portland is perfect for a day, a weekend, or to settle in!

Here's my favorite things to do in Portland for free or close to it!

Pioneer Courthouse Square

Truly Portland's living room! Grab some grub and kick back for all the local events that happen here. This spot can house movies, markets and outdoor concerts!

Food Carts

My favorite block of carts is on Alder Street! Look no further for any flavor under the sun!

Powell's Books

Get lost for hours in the biggest independent new and used bookstore ever! Plus, they have a cafe where you can sit and enjoy your new read.

Saturday Market

In specific times of year, check out this pop up market for flowers, crafts, and plenty of artisin food dishes.

Providence Bridge Pedal

On a specific weekend every year, you can pedal for a good cause! Several of Portland's iconic bridges including Providence are shut down to cars for bikes to travel from bridge to bridge.

Washington Park

Portland's sights never stop amazing me. Kick back and relax in this incredible park space.

Lan Su Chinese Garden

I love this spot! One of my favorite things is spending hours looking at the beautiful gardens while sipping tea. Tickets are just under $10 per adult and seniors/students - kids get in FREE!

Pittock Mansion

Check out this cool space for a history lesson about Portland and a killer shop!

Forest Park

One of my favorite parks full of trails that are great to lose yourself in.

Keller Fountain

This beautiful fountain mirrors Oregon's natural waterfalls and in the summer it's a wonderful place to splash!

Which activity would you like to do? Have suggestions to add to this list?
