A City On a Dime: Vancouver, B.C.
Today's City on a Dime is all about Vancouver, B.C.! Living in Southwest Washington, even as a teenager I loved visiting Vancouver, B.C. with friends. It's extremely accessible for me by car or Amtrak train. A lively city with a lot of fun history, there's always something happenin'! You don't even need your passport to cross into Canada as long as you have an enhanced driver's license.
I always visit this chain restaurant whenever I'm in town. I came across this delicious fast-food alternative, chicken restaurant when I lived abroad in London. It's my favorite place; I highly suggest! They also have plenty of vegetarian options too, if you're not about the chicken.
A beautiful viewpoint accessed by a glass elevator! Located in downtown, an adult ticket is around $17 and offers you beautiful views of the whole city. That beats a $30 museum admission!
CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY
Vancouver is host to many free art galleries! Take a stroll down South Granville Street, aka "Gallery Row".
RICHMOND NIGHT MARKET
This Chinese night market is located in Richmond! For only $2.75, browse some amazing, unique items, art or pick up some tasty seafood!
BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM
This museum is free year-round! It's a 1920s period outdoor village. Period costumed townspeople welcome visitors all year! Get ready to step into another time...
GIANT LAUGHING STATUES
Located in Morton Park, these statues are an iconic place to visit on any Vancouver trip! A great place to grab a picnic or an iconic selfie.
ONCE UPON A TIME+
Vancouver is a hotspot for filming tons of films and movies! My personal favorite is the town of Richmond, which is where ABC's fantasy series "Once Upon a Time" is filmed. The tiny town looks just about the same and basically all of the outdoor scenes are filmed in or around the town!
