DIY : Personalized Photo Drink Coasters
Today, a friend and I tried an awesome craft she found on Pinterest: photo drink coasters. In a few easy steps, you can create some household drink coasters with your own personalized touch! This craft is an easy group project at under $20, producing 40 coasters.
What You'll Need:
- Mod Podge glue
- Felt bumpers (4 per tile)
- Square tiles (as many as you'd like)
- Your own pictures cut to desired size
First, lay out your photos on top of the tiles in the look you want for your coasters. Make sure the corners fit the tile and that your photos are properly cropped to fit the size of the tiles you chose. Trim any photos that need trimming, and start by applying a layer of Mod Podge to the back of your photo, gluing the photo to the front of the tile.
Run your fingers across the tile and make sure the photo is gluing properly to the tile. Wait for the glue to dry, and repeat the gluing process by adding a layer over your photo (don't worry--this will dry as a gloss finish, not the initial white film). If the photo is having trouble sticking, a couple coats might be necessary.
After your coaster has finished drying, apply four of the felt bumpers to the bottom of the tile--one bumper in each corner. Most bumpers come adhesive ready, and those will be your ideal kind, unless you want to find yourself scrounging up random glue around the house at the last second. We used 3/8 inch bumpers, and they came in a pack of 84.
This will ensure that your coasters don't scratch up your tables and allow for smooth moving. Now place your drink of choice on top of your coaster and enjoy the view!
TA-DA! You now have your very own customized photo drink coasters!
