Great Eats : Fat Head's Brewery in Portland, OR
During my trip to Portland, I discovered Fat Head's Brewery by searching Groupon and LivingSocial deals for local restaurants. I found their LivingSocial deal offering $25 of food for just $15, and instantly made the purchase.
I asked the waiter what gluten-free and vegetarian options they offered, and was able to find a delicious margarita pizza and caesar salad that suit my diet needs.
Jared ordered one of their famous "headwiches": The Pull Monty, consisting of house-smoked pulled chicken, Carolina sauce, bacon, Tillamook cheddar, slaw and fresh jalapeños. The waiter suggested ordering the Beasty BBQ sauce instead of the Carolina. Jared agreed: BBQ is better than Carolina.
Jared also indulged in their Head Hunter IPA. We could see the full, working brewery from our table. This setting offers a unique experience for customers.
I've never photographed a more beautiful-looking beer (it's not my tastebuds' favorite--I stuck with water, but Jared sure enjoyed it)!
The best part? The brewery is located a few blocks from the legendary Powell's Bookstore--setting the stage for hungry book lovers to satisfy their stomachs after a long day of browsing.
