Okay, so you got a hangover and you didn't plan it. Oh man! These times spring up when we least desire them and can ruin a perfectly good day. I've made a list of the coolest, quick and foolproof hangover cures found on the Internet, so that perhaps when your next hangover hits, it doesn't hurt as bad!
1. HAIR OF THE DOG
The most commonly heard hangover cure is to drink again! When you wake up and suffer from that all familiar pounding headache, reach for another one. Go out to brunch and order a Bloody Mary. Treat yourself, girl!
2. DANDELION ROOT TEA
As you sip your dandelion root tea, it cleanses your liver. Drink a few cups of it, and you're back to normal! While it's best to drink it black and unsweetened, if you can't handle the taste, adding milk or honey works great, too!
Believe it or not, there's specific yoga poses that can cure a hangover! From child's pose to reclining bound angle pose, Asana is your new best friend. Yoga gets the blood flowing again and loosens up your vessel!
4. A BREAKFAST OF EGGS + ASPARAGUS
Head to the diner and load up! While eggs can be greasy and when matched with a delicious carb-loaded breakfast are perfect for hangover curing, asparagus is an extra touch to your breakfast, studied in 2009 and found to speed up the break-down process of alcohol in our cells.
5. LOW-INTENSITY EXERCISE
Along with yoga, other low-intensity exercises such as stretching, aerobics, swimming and dance can wake your body up without overpowering it and overwhelming the hangover. While alcohol works as a depressant, exercise works as a feel-good.
Popping an ibuprofen or aspirin can relieve your pains, but this cure is something to be careful with--you don't want to take to much, or else you might run the risk of making yourself sicker.
7. ACTIVATED CHARCOAL
Once the hangover hits, take some activated charcoal! Rarely is alcohol ever consumed straight up, but more likely mixed with sugars and other gnarly chemicals, and the charcoal helps to get rid of these toxins from your system. Better yet: elect to consume some activated charcoal before the night begins and you'll be well off.
8. FOODS HIGH IN SALT AND POTASSIUM
Snacks such as bananas and pretzels can help decrease dehydration due to their electrolyte contents. Anything high in salt and potassium can speed the recovery process.
