I know the feeling: you're sitting there after finishing your client work and you're sick of watching YouTube videos to no end! Believe it or not: you can grow your biz while there isn't actual work to be done. Here's how to build your business while client work is slow!
TIGHTEN YOUR RESUME
When was the last time you looked over your resume and freshened up your skill list and references? If you own a business like myself, it probably wasn't recent. Sometimes a resume is just a nice thing to have and reference, even if it's not used in a traditional sense.
TIDY UP YOUR ACCOUNTING
Let's face it: yes, we should always have tidy accounting, but sometimes things just hit the back-burner on busy days! Use this bit of time to ensure that your invoices are all in order and organized in proper files/backed up on external storage.
DECORATE YOUR BUSINESS WEBSITE
It's so important that you keep your website updated and current. Maybe you simply haven't revamped it in a while! Just last night, I went through and edited the images and spruced up the visuals of my biz website. Like I always say, look and act the part - especially if this is your job!
MASS PREP BLOG POSTS
As a business owner, you should be blogging one way or another. Ideally, you should have a niche blog on your biz website, or you may have an umbrella brand (like me) and operate a blog with your niche topic included.
Either way, a blog is necessary for every niche in order to attract new customers/clients and CONVERT, CONVERT, CONVERT! It doesn't matter if you're a digital marketing professional or a funeral director! Not lying. You have knowledge the rest of us don't and we value YOU.
UPDATE YOUR CTAs (Call-to-Actions)
Along with your blog posts, I can't stress this enough: you need some solid CTAs! Some topics may have different CTAs for different offers and refreshing all these options is a top priority.
With these updated CTAs, you will be raking in the leads, causing your business to grow - even on its off days.
DUST YOUR SPACE
I'm a firm believer in the notion that it's an investment in your biz to clean your workspace. A clean workspace means a clean mind, ready to take on the day's challenges - whatever those may be!
I'm obsessed with Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts and TJ Maxx/HomeGoods - pure Heaven when it comes to workspace organization! A simple visit to these bad boys and you'll be on the road to a more aesthetically pleasing (and easier-to-handle) office!
TAKE A ECOURSE/WEBINAR
If you've read previous blog posts of mine, you know I'm a total sucker for a good webinar or ecourse. I'm a big believer in the idea that knowledge is a constant process and lifelong learning is key. Give Google a search for decent classes and webinars you can attend, or check your favorite instructors (Melyssa Griffin and Hilary Rushford are a couple of mine) to see what they're currently offering in your niche realm!
What is your favorite thing to do when client work is slower than usual?
