It's that time of the year for pumpkin carving and all the mess that goes with it! Halloween is by far my favorite holiday and I love the opportunity to express myself every year through themed crafts and pumpkin carving!
I carved my pumpkin as a skull this year. I used a Pinterest photo as my inspiration and went with it! For my tools, I picked up a carving kit from the grocery store, but I mostly used a small knife, a toothpick and a small saw type thing that came in the kit.
The hardest thing for me is precision with my cutting, but once you get some practice it gets easier. Figuring out what to carve is another issue, but Pinterest gave me plenty of inspiration and advice!
After you carve, there's plenty of tips on how to preserve the pumpkin for longer. From WD-40, to petroleum jelly, you're sure to have something already in your cupboard. Click the image above for quick hacks.
I also like to separate the seeds as I carve, and every year I make a big batch of roasted pumpkin seeds. This year I followed the recipe above (click the image for more) and used Himalayan pink salt. It was tasty and I made plenty of extras!
What do you do during your typical pumpkin carving routine?
