When it comes to workspace organization, there's 11 things you must have at your workspace to increase your productivity and overall happiness!
1. A GOOD ORGANIZATIONAL PLANNER
I love me some planners from Target! This is my weakness - I buy way too many planners and honest to God use all of them, it's ridiculous. I am a highly organized person, so planning is key to my everyday success.
2. YOUR BRANDING STYLE GUIDE
This is something people all-too-often forget and is the worst thing you could ever forget! Never complete big tasks and projects without having your brand style guide close by. Your style guide reminds you of your core purpose, your mission and most importantly: your brand's color palette, fonts and visual identity. Without this, I've found that I'm less inspired, less motivated and tend to veer off course and make decisions that aren't right for my brand (or my clients'). Having a defined brand guideline is so necessary, and when you've defined it, go ahead and throw a copy up on the wall or your cork board - wherever it is super visible during working hours.
3. TIDE-TO-GO STAIN REMOVER
Because you never know when the delicious curry you picked for lunch will hit your beautiful white blouse...
4. RE-FILLABLE WATER BOTTLE
You need about 8 glasses of water a day (at least) to stay in optimal hydration, and while I admit I'm not the best at achieving that, I think a reusable water bottle can encourage us all to do better. Whether you like the stylish or practical functions of S'well bottles, you must grab one today! S'well is the fastest growing female-owned company in America today that produces crave-worthy bottles that stay cold (or hot) while reducing our environmental impact. And we're all about all of that, let's be real.
5. A PAIR OF GO-TO GOOD QUALITY HEADPHONES
I'm not even gonna try to lie on this one (and all my friends know it): I LOVE the sound of someone typing on a computer keyboard. Now with this whole new world of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response) videos, it's easy as heck for me to find a video that suits my fancy. While I don't get "the tingles" like some people do with ASMR, listening to typing instantly relaxes, motivates and helps me concentrate (perhaps it's because it tricks me into thinking I'm being productive, too - ha!). Here's a few of my go-to faves:
In addition to ASMR noises (I also love a good sushi eating vid but then I'm suddenly suuuuper hungry), Spotify is a must-have and you bet I pay for the ad-less membership! I need all of my playlists easily accessible during working hours or else I'd be lost. I recently invested in my go-to sound system: a pair of urBeats by Dre (in red and black, obviously - brand inspo!). At $79, these ear buds are affordable for the quality you receive. The urBeats instantly block out any background noise, which is extremely helpful when it comes to working in coffee shops with crying children or loud talkers!
6. SUCCULENTS / PLANTS
They say that adding plants to a room or workspace breathes LIFE into it and I couldn't agree more. Here at Fashionably Frank, we're big proponents of succulents in beautiful terrariums, but if you aren't as easily charmed by their tiny appearance, you can always opt for a big potted plant or desk plant more suited for your personality. Adding a dash of life into your space will make you feel more awake and enlivened, and maybe even as though you are one with nature!
7. FIRST AID & PERSONAL CARE ITEMS
Because you never know when you'll need a pad or tampon, or a BAND-AID or hand sanitizer, girl! When I remember, I always make sure I have a mini first aid kit, sanitizer or wipes, gum or mints (I'm a gum kinda gal myself), ibuprofen or another mild pain killer, feminine products, hair ties and extra lipstick... because, well, it's better to be over-prepared than under, right?
8. TO-DO LIST
You may not be the kind of gal who likes checking off to-do list items, but I sure am! It's the organizer in me coming out again. I'm a concrete sequential thinker, so the easier time I have with keeping track of tasks and how much I have still to complete each day is really important to me. I use my planner as mentioned above and write down my to-do list items each day. If you're all about that electronic organization, consider using Asana (my personal fave) or Trello.
9. EXTRA LAYERS OF CLOTHES
Seriously, whose office isn't FREEZING cold (or coffee shops, in my case)!? Keeping a sweater or cardigan nearby is a must.
10. A BAG OF TRADER JOE'S SIMPLY ALMONDS, CASHEWS & CHOCOLATE TREX MIX
Because you ain't livin' if you ain't tried it.
11. BEAUTIFUL DECOR
Who wants to work in a dull, mundane workspace? As much as you can, bring in the ultimate decor experience that will help you enjoy your workday. I find that I'm much more joyful when I'm working in an aesthetically pleasing space. Frilly pillows for your chair, a gorgeous wall calendar from your favorite artist (or feat. your favorite breed of pups), a streamer garland, your fave photos of you and your sweetie/your gals, a bouquet of fresh flowers - do it all, girlboss!
What's something you never leave behind while at work?
